Unique Characteristics

The Operating Model

Value Retail’s unique business model facilitates decentralised, active management and is built around supporting and working with the brands as today’s marketplace becomes increasingly complex. In serving its guests and driving the positioning of its brands, Value Retail applies a retail led, tourism driven approach.

Value Retail understands the needs of today’s fast changing retail environment. Competition and rates of change continue to increase exponentially – driven, in large part, by the rapid emergence of new technologies and emerging markets, most notably China. Value Retail has created a truly agile business model to keep pace in this ever changing marketplace.

The Villages operate both individually and as part of a unified Collection. Collaborations between the Villages generate shared ideas, interests and goals.

The People

Value Retail employs 1,200 members of staff, representing 50 nationalities with 36 languages spoken, in eight countries. The business draws on talented individuals with industry specific skills and diverse expertise, with a strong overriding retail culture.

The Focus on Key Markets and Customers

Value Retail operates a “boutique Collection” of Villages in Europe’s and China's most important luxury and fashion markets, which appeal to high spending international and European visitors.

It constantly invests in developing new services and in upgrading its brand mix, leveraging the platform of all the Villages towards a Collection of must-visit international shopping destinations.
